WE have finally arrived in Luxor!
We have just checked into our hotel the we booked yesterday and I am now just waiting for the bath to fill up hooray!.
Yesterday we went to the train station (after deciding that we were going to Luxor instead of Aswan) after a visit to the chemist as I thought I had a verucca. He told me to wait and I saw him preparing an injection needle behind the counter, and thought technology has gone a long way since I was a kid and had to wear those Polo shaped plasters.... We were both getting pretty worried that I was going to be injected and then, phew it turned out to be for someone else!.
When it came to my turn he put some anesthetic cream on my foot and 15 mins later pulled out a piece of metal. Ow!. Thankfully it wasn't a verucca though.
We walked (or in my case, hobbled) to the train station and ended up buying our train ticket from a travel agent as the station did not except Egyptian Pounds. We decided to book this hotel as well as it had a pool and someone would meet us at the station.
After we booked everything we took the metro to the Egyptian museum where we did a quick circuit around.
Back to the Hilton for a swim and some sun after a lovely Egyptian meal in the centre of Downtown.
Train journey was uncomfortable last night, bad dinner, bad sleep, bad breakfast so now we are recovering. More later........
..........Later
we've slept, relaxed, swam and had good food.
We booked a west bank tour for tomorrow with a guy named Ahmed, visiting the Valley of the kings etc but later booked a cruise on the river Nile for a 3 day trip to Aswan.
We had left the hotel this afternoon saying that we would not jump into any tours straight away and have ended up over booked.
After saying yes to this Ahmed guy Maurice met some young tourists who had just done the cruise back the other way and had got a great deal. They gave the number of their guide and when Maurice called we got the same price!.
So from tomorrow we are going to be cruisers!.
