We got off the train this morning feeling much fresher than we did when we got off in Luxor. Decided that we would have a look at some of the markets, but then when we got to them it was too early of course, so we went to a hotel in downtown and booked a room for the day to keep our bags and to have a rest if we wanted to later.
Walked to a shopping centre which was full of men's clothing stores, which was great for Maurice, but a little dull for me!.
We were by the pool at 1400 and did our very last sun tan (are we obsessed or what?!) of the holiday, went back to the hotel at around 1700 and then out for a dinner. As there wasn't much else to do we decided that wed have a few beers before getting the taxi to the airport at midnight. We started at a place that was like a Cafe that was pretty dull, but ok, then ended up in a place with what we think were Egyptian prostitutes hanging around with some men. They looked like prostitutes as they were drinking beer and had their hair uncovered (I guess I looked like one too then ?!!!). But it was all really fun, then grabbed our bags from the hotel and into a taxi to the airport.
Then we realised my mistake.
instead of looking at the flight time I had looked at the flight number, so we were around 2 hours early for the flight. Damn!. Luckily it wasn't the other way round!.
We ended up at a bar in the airport with an English guy who works on the oil rigs so he was paying for all our drinks.
As soon as we got on the plane we fell fast asleep!.
Thanks Oscar!

Over night train back to Cairo
Had another relaxing day today. Watched Babe on TV in the morning and then went back to the pool when it was time to check out of the hotel.
Met more Aussies round the pool again, this was a much tamer crew. Also there were 2 New Zealand girls who were doing it properly they were backpacking around the middle east on a budget. They asked a lot of questions about Israel and the Kibbutz system and it was nice to talk about it.
Were on the train now, leaving Aswan was nice as the sun was setting giving a warm red colour.

Aswan. Back to Reality
AAHHH the cruise has finished. BOO.
We were woken this morning and the four of us had breakfast in the plush lounge.
After breakfast we joined Caroline and Johns guide again who took us in a mini bus and went to the Old Dam and the High dam. It was cool to see but although its the 2nd highest in the world, it doesn't really look like it because of the old one.
Then we went to another temple that was beautiful, but the most amazing thing about it was that it had been oved. When the dams were made, the original island that the temple was on was flooded, meaning that the temple was spoiling. The solution was to take each stone piece by piece and put it onto another Island and rebuild it!. The only thing that is wrong with it is that it is not symmetrical as all temples should be but the Island was not big enough.
We drove back to the boat for one last swim and sun bathe.
We met up with our rep (I've been referring to him as our guide, but he hasn't guided us through anything!), showed us to a hotel, then took us to the train station where we booked our journey back to Cairo.
We said our goodbyes to him and went and met John and Caroline at a restaurant that everybody was recommending us to eat in called Macca. WE had a strange meal. I didn't like the service (this 5 star stuff has turned me into a snob) or what I ordered.
Id ordered stuffed pigeon of all things. God they had so many other nicer dishes and I chose a flying rat. Well done.
He then gave our bill and it looked like he'd just made it up which was also annoying.
Despite that the company was nice we said our last "housekeepers do it on your beds" jokes which have been running all through the cruise.
Last night they did it on Caroline's bed with a towel and a bunch of flowers. They only did it with a towel on Maurices bed .... and they folded up my clothes after they did it on mine.
Said our goodbyes to John and Caroline, then went to our hotel and realised that the swimming pool only got sun before 1300 everyday so we changed hotels, to a much much cheaper hotel. This had a pool on the roof and loads of Aussies, bonus!.
Maurice came back from the pool and he wanted to go for a run, so we walked through the bazaar and I stayed in a restaurant next to the Nile. We met some of the Aussie having dinner there when Maurice came back and had a meal and a few beers with them.

Edfu. Too lazy to get up
This morning I woke, up early enough to go on the trip to the temple at Edfu with everybody else..... but the thought of eating breakfast in bed over took that idea, so called the restaurant and they brought a huge selection of goodies up for us and then we fell back asleep again. I feel bad for not going, but I don't know anything about the temple and I'm not very interested either. I guess if I was, I would not be on a cruise I would be taking my time at each place and not with a group!.
Its been such a hot day today. After breakfast in bed I watched the Nile slide by when we had set off again after everyone came back from the temple, and took a few photos. its really blissful but everytime we pass another cruise boat (and there are a lot of them) our horn would blast loudly and the other boat would return it. On the river banks all the way down people are swimming, fishing, farming, and basically living. How strange to think that to them its like living on a busy road. Instead of the constant blaring of horns the you get in Cairo, they have boat horns that disturb their peace and tranquility.
At 1600 today we stopped of at another temple, and this time, as it was in the afternoon, we decided that we would join everyone else and go and have a look. Caroline and Johns guide took us with him and it was really interesting. Its a semi demolished temple and was really interesting to see, especially the old old old calendar in hieroglyphics. Amazing!.
I'm sitting out on deck writing this, surrounded by all the Germans. The temperatures wonderful. We are slowly docking in Aswan and I have my back to the city, looking over at some kind of fort. Its lit up and beautiful. The only bad thing is the music that they are playing. Boyzone and Celine... can they not put any thing more appropriate on?.
I cant believe this is the last night. The Yorkshires are going back to Cairo again on the boat and despite the fact that I have never been this relaxed I've been in ages, I would not be able to do that I don't think.
I would if I was going further, but not back again!.
