The sun is setting over Koroit, the sheep and the lambs in the field opposite are starting to settle down for the night and the mist is settling over Port Fairy. We are staying with Cathy (Maurice's sister) and Phil in their beautiful new house here. They have a beautiful place that is nice and new with everything just perfect. Its a stunning place with beautiful views overlooking these gorgeous green fields. They have been living here for a year now and the house is looking good. Trees have been planted and they are all Australian so a very easy garden to look after. They both seem very happy here, surrounded by all this nature, and they both have a passion for the area where they live in.
Down the road, there is a place called Tower hill which is a mouth of a 10 kilometer volcano, its home to all sorts of animals, Kangaroos, Emus and Koalas. Its absolutely stunning. Koroit itself is a small village, with a strong Irish background, and has very quaint looking shops the local pubs are fun, which we found out last night with live music and actually a good craic!
We have been staying here for a week, and they have really looked after us. We have both been having driving lessons off Cathy in their very old Automatic car, which has been a great benefit to the both of us. We are both doing our driving lessons, as we have realised now that we are back here to settle, we will not get anywhere without driving, literally. Within the first week of being here, Maurice had already bought a car!
We have decided that we want to buy a house here in the Warnambool area, and start to grow up and settle down. There are some good property's here, that are well priced, we just have to find the right one. We will be back in around 2 weeks, and staying at another sisters house (Bernadette's) while she is on holiday in Vietnam. i have been offered a job, back in the catering industry, but this time in a cafe. I haven't even seen the place, its a friend of Cathy's that owns it and I can start whenever we get back here! I would really prefer to get out of this industry, but its a fantastic start, and a good way to meet people and figure out what other line of work I want to do. When Bernadette comes back from Vietnam, ANOTHER sister Lou, and her husband have a massive property 20 Min's bike ride from Warnmabool, with one view of the sea and on the other side a river. its a stunning place, and they have a caravan and a veggie patch there, which we plan to live in until we find somewhere to either rent or buy. Its going to be very basic living, but we are looking forward to it.
While we have been in Melbourne we have been staying with yes, another sister, Loretta, in her house in Reservoir. It been great staying with her, shes been a star, helping us get back into Australia, not just for a holiday this time. Since we have been away she has built a chook house, so its a great thing to wake up and have fresh eggs in the morning, still nice and warm!
Ret is a big AFL (Aussie rules football) fan, and on grand final day we decorate the house with posters of the team and balloons of their colours, friends and family came over and we had a great day, BBQ, wine, competitons. It was really fun, despite the team that everyone was going for losing (I had no idea what was going on, so spent most of the day in the sun drinking!) That weekend we had sausages three days running, wow that was impressive. During the week we ate so much salad to compensate the punishment we had given our bodies.
