Egypt Cairo

Had a Resonably Ok journey this morning and arrived in Cairo, where Oscar (Egyptian guy that works at Sars) picked us up from the airport and took us to a hotel.
We woke at 10 am and as arranged met down in the Lobby to go on a trip to the pyramids with Oscars brother.
As we left the hotel I started to recognise where we were and we drove down the strret paralle tp the one that Mandy and I stayed in around 5 years ago. It was funny looking at all these places again and it brought back some wonderful memories of Mandy.
After to travelling to different Muslim countries after coming here the first time I feel less daunted. much braver and much more open to their culture.
Anyway we arrived at the pyramids and went on a tour around with Oscars Brother. It was interesting , again, in a different way.
When Mandy and I came here before we went aroiund on our own as we didnt know that the entrance fee included a guide.
The tour we did today took us to the Queens pyramid where you go down backwards into the tomb, places where they found the ships, more tombs and the sphinx. Then we were offered a trip on horses around the pyramids... which I fell for by accident when the guide gave me his hand to help me down a steep rockthen suddenly as horse was in between my legs!. Once I got off the horse I felt quite a prat as I really didnt realise that I was getting on it they were that quick.
After a long lunch with Oscar, we said our goodbyes and went to the Hiltan for an afternoon swim.
  • Walked back from the Hilton though Downtown and back to the hotel, I am very impressed with my directions after all this time!.
I loved walking though downtown tonight, so many women compared to other muslim countries and despite the fact that they are well covered up the ones around my age dress so funky!. As soon as I saw some of the girls looking at me and smiled back, their expressions on their faces changes rapidly from a expression of mild interest (at the western girl bare hair and arms!) to pure joy of being smiled at! a wonderful sight.

We still havnt decided where we are going on this holiday, but we will be going to either Alexandra or Luxor tomorrow......
